Charger Alerts - New System
As part of Columbia State’s ongoing effort to safeguard students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency, the College has implemented an emergency communications system known as Charger Alerts. The system allows students, faculty and staff to receive time-sensitive emergency messages and inclement weather alerts in the form of email, voice and text messages.
This system replaces the previous alert system, so all employees and students should log in to sign up and review their settings.
Please take a few minutes and follow the steps below to verify your information and start receiving notifications.
Step 1
- Log in to your myCN account.
- On the Home tab, click the log in link in the Charger Alerts box located under the College Announcements.
- Enter your PVT (ChargerNet) username & password.
Step 2
This is where you will edit contact information and add as many additional phone numbers and email addresses as you need.
Select "Add User Device" in the User Devices section to add your Cell Phone, Home Phone, Work Phone, and/or Email.
- For cell phone, if you are adding your cell phone number for the first time, you will receive a text message to verify the number and confirm that you wish to receive text messages. You will need to respond "Yes".
- For email, you will receive an email titled "Device Verification" from InformaCast asking you to verify your device. You will need to click "Verify Device" to confirm that you want to receive emails.
Step 3
Select your Communication Preferences.
- Review the distribution lists to determine which notifications you would like to receive.
- For students, it is recommended to select "Currently Enrolled Students," as well as the campus(es) you attend.
- For employees, it is recommend to select "Employees," as well as the campus(es) at which you work. For timely communication, you may want to select all campus locations.
Click the checkmark under "Subscribed" to sign up for the distribution list.
Step 4
Save your selections.
- Scroll to the top of the page and click the blue "Save" button to save your changes.
- Log out of the dashboard.
Everyone who has a Columbia State email address will receive emergency alerts to their campus email address. In order to receive text and voice message alerts, all members of the campus community will be asked to provide phone contact information. While participation in the text and voice messaging notification is optional, enrollment is strongly encouraged. The information you supply is considered confidential and will NOT be shared or used for other purposes. You will only be contacted through the system in the event of an emergency or inclement weather alert.
